What we are looking for in our Practice Trainees / Relevant Legal Trainees?

At Sim Mong Teck & Partners (“SMTP”), we have high expectations of our lawyers.  Naturally, when we do take on potential new members of our team, we are on the lookout for well-rounded candidates who possess high levels of academic achievement, as well as a clear demonstration of talent or potential that can be nurtured and developed with the right training and mentorship.

Beyond academic achievements, we also look for desirable personal traits in our Practice Trainees / Relevant Legal Trainees. Individuals should be passionate, committed, trustworthy, motivated and client-centric. Candidate should be proficient in both English and Mandarin (both written and spoken). As we train with a view to retain, we also look for individuals who can contribute to and grow with SMTP. As such, it is also important that our Practice Trainees / Relevant Legal Trainees are team players who can take on and contribute to SMTP’s success.

What to expect?

As a private client law firm, SMTP provides bespoke services to clients of significant profile and background. As such, you can expect to receive well-rounded training (including setting up of family offices, investment led immigration schemes, trust and wills advisory, as well as handling real estate transactions/matters for high net-worth clients) from our highly experienced lawyers, from whom you will receive feedback on your performance. As a budding private client lawyer, you are not only expected to have sound technical knowledge, but also the requisite soft skills to ensure that you have a good grasp of the intricacies of private client legal practice.
