Description

The Legislation Division of the Attorney-General’s Chambers is the national law drafting office of Singapore. Our law drafters turn public policy into clear and effective legislation. 

We are looking for lawyers who have a keen interest in shaping the law, an interest in policy formulation, an ability to think critically and creatively, strong legal and analytical skills and good communication skills.  

As a law drafter, you will deal with a wide range of laws and policies, including constitutional law, criminal law, technology, media and telecommunications law, family law, securities regulation, corporate law, tax law, and emerging areas of regulation such as coastal protection and space law.

You will be working in a dynamic environment at the heart of Government, alongside policy makers of all levels in Ministries and statutory boards, and will be expected to offer creative legal solutions to give effect to policies. You will play an integral role in nation-building and upholding the rule of law.

Requirements

a. Prior experience in private practice or in the public sector is preferred but we welcome all candidates, even those with no relevant work experience.

b. Law Degree from: 
i. the NUS, SMU or SUSS; or
ii. a Scheduled University in England, Australia, New Zealand or the USA and have passed the DipSing or the Part A of the Singapore Bar Examinations and be a “qualified person” as defined in the Legal Profession Act 1996/the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules.
